Characteristics of Natural Wood and Precautions for Use
Osaka Kirakuya - Guidelines and Cautions for Using Carving Materials
We extend our deepest gratitude for your continued patronage of Osaka Kirakuya.
Our products are made from natural wood. As such, each piece of timber has its own unique coloration and grain pattern, and may include knots, cracks, and minor splits. During the carving process, unforeseen imperfections within the material, such as cracks, discoloration, or knots, may become apparent.
These are characteristics inherent to natural materials and should not be considered defects.
Even when such flaws become apparent, they can often be incorporated as part of the sculpture's design or addressed by adjusting the carving area.
At Osaka Kirakuya, we meticulously select each material with the discerning eye of a craftsman before delivering it to our customers. However, it is not possible to fully predict the internal condition of the material. We humbly request your understanding of the natural characteristics of this wood and ask that you cherish your carving materials accordingly.
Should you encounter any significant difficulties in your creative process, or have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Our staff will respond with the utmost sincerity and dedication.
We humbly request your continued patronage of Osaka Kirakuya.

Professional Woodcarving Instruments / Carving Chisels
Crafted by Ogura Carving Blade Workshop. The current design of our Professional Woodcarving Instruments was conceived centuries ago by Takiguchi Unokichi and his disciples. My father, Akira, who was one of those disciples, established the Ogura Carving Blade Workshop in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, 42 years ago after Unokichi's passing. Although my father has since passed away, my brother and I continue to honor his legacy to this day. Our workshop produces Professional Woodcarving Instruments, small tools, striking chisels, and blades for carving. We maintain the traditional hand-forging techniques, joining steel and soft iron, forging by fire, shaping with files, tempering, sharpening, and fitting the handle to complete each piece.
